Everything about Seatac Washington totally explained

SeaTac is a city and outlying suburb of Seattle, located in the southern section of King County in Washington State. It surrounds and is named after the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (owned by the Port of Seattle), also referred to as Sea-Tac, but spelled with a hyphen. The name of the city is an example of a blend, refering the city's location between Seattle and Tacoma, but is approximately twice as far from downtown Tacoma as it's from downtown Seattle. The population was 25,496 at the 2000 census. Alaska Airlines is headquartered in SeaTac, near the airport.

History

SeaTac was officially incorporated on February 28, 1990, becoming the first city to use CamelCase in its name. City Hall is located at 4800 South 188th Street.

Trivia

SeaTac was the location of numerous murders by "The Green River Killer," Gary Ridgway, who lived in SeaTac and picked up many of his victims in the area during the early and mid 1980's.

Geography

SeaTac is located at (47.441406, -122.293077).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.1 square miles (26.2 km²), of which, 10.0 square miles (25.8 km²) of it's land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (1.68%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 25,496 people, 9,708 households, and 5,960 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,558.8 people per square mile (988.4/km²). There were 10,176 housing units at an average density of 1,021.3/sq mi (394.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 62.86% White, 9.15% African American, 1.50% Native American, 11.07% Asian, 2.66% Pacific Islander, 6.41% from other races, and 6.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.95% of the population.
   There were 9,708 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.8% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.6% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.17.
   In the city the population was spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 110.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 111.8 males.
   The median income for a household in the city was $41,202, and the median income for a family was $47,630. Males had a median income of $34,396 versus $28,984 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,717. About 9.8% of families and 11.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.5% of those under age 18 and 8.1% of those age 65 or over.
